Hi, I'm Aften - Earl's favorite daughter (don't tell Ariel). I'm not a blogger, but decided to put this together 1. To help myself get through this process (selfish I know) 2. To provide a central outlet for information, prayers, encouraging thoughts, jokes and comments (make a few of them sarcastic too - you know how dad likes to BS) and 3. Because I know dad is going to love reading this one day as we look back on this time and say...yeah, that was scary,but you kicked some serious cancer ass!

Running tests...
Not much new to report...running tests. Dad had a spinal tab and MRIs of the brain and several areas along the spine to check for tumors and/or cancer cells in his spinal fluid. Lots of prayers that he doesn't have either, esp re: the spinal fluid. It sounds like we will hear results and hopefully options some time today..Dads pain is feeling better overall than before, but that is because his is on so many pain medications. He was put on a self administered pain med system with a button that he can press when he has pain. This will help doctors guage which/how much medication he needs and hopefully be able to convert to an oral version. He was a little loopy last night - the doctor thought it is probably a result of the medication. Big prayers for "good" results - really appreciate all of the prayers and support.
