Hi Everyone - sorry I did not get to update yesterday. It was a busy day and night for me and I wasn't able to make it to the hospital yesterday. Dad did have an OK day for a change ....and seems to be doing OK today re: pain. Prayers are working!
The great news is we got the results from his Brain, Thoracic and Cervical MRIs and supposedly all are "negative"...meaning clear of any additional new cancer - this is great news! The Brain MRI showed that the existing tumor that was previously gamma knifed is smaller in size and appears to be shrinking. His CT scan, checking for fractures from the fall is also clear...he is now "released" from bed rest, but he is really shaky and weak and it's hard for him to sit up straight and walk around at this point. He's also at a higher risk for Pulmonary Embolisms, especially with not currently being on his blood thinners..a Pulmonary Embolism is what he had in February where many do not survive. Hoping we can get him up and more active soon to help prevent this from occurring again. They did initially mention the possibility of putting in a filter to help prevent Embolisms, but we haven't heard any further actions up to this point.
The big piece we are still waiting on is the spinal tap result - Prayers that the results do not reveal cancer cells in the spinal fluid. once they have that result, I'm assuming (hoping) they will finally be able to piece together a big enough picture to assess and will have an option(s). Hopefully we will have more news later this evening..
Keep the prayers coming - thanks again!
Still praying for you Earl. So very sorry you're having to go through all of this. Take the pain meds; that's what they're for. No need to suffer any more than necessary. Will continue to pray for you and Bonnie and all your family. Hope you're feeling better very soon. Joni Wilken
