Appointment Follow Up / New Addition

Just wanted to follow up from last Friday... Dad's Neuro Surgeon said the activity on the MRI could be either progression of disease or response to radiation or chemo. It's a 50/50 chance. He said he has seen scans present like that and then improve a few months later, indicating a reaction to treatment. As a result, the plan is for Dad to go back on steroids and repeat the scan in 6 weeks. Hopefully the activity is just a result of the treatment and we will see improvement - prayers needed.

The steroids do give Dad more energy, but they also tend to affect his blood sugar levels. In the past have caused him to become temporarily diabetic and insulin dependent, which he would like to prevent if possible. If anyone has any diabetic-safe treat ideas, please pass them along. Great that proteins are "good" foods to eat while diabetic, because we know how Dad loves meat...at the same time, he also loves his starches and sweets, so please don't tempt him with carbs, but if you have any diabetic friendly sweet ideas I'm sure he would welcome them!

Again, a big big thanks to all of you for all of your continued support. I hear there were several more angels that helped with the yard and have done various "up keep" gestures for Mom and Dad around the house. I don't want to miss thanking anyone individually, but please know how much the gestures are appreciated.

On a different note, Kyle and I welcomed baby boy #2 into the world on Friday. Nash McCoy Zurliene was born at 12:29pm, measuring in at 9lbs, 3oz, 21inches long. Dad was feeling great Saturday and was able to visit the hospital. Canaan also enjoyed spending a few days at "mema and pee-paw's" house while we were away. We're doing great...he just has his days and nights confused - we didn't plan to be getting any sleep this week anyway though :-)

Hope you are all doing well!
