Surgery Details + Haircut

Here are the details for surgery this week - Dad will go to Barnes on Monday for pre-surgery tests, including an MRI with brain mapping where they will put a series of "cheerios" on his head (we’ll be sure to post a picture of this part!). The purpose of the "cheerios" is to act as a blueprint/map to help guide the neurosurgeon during surgery.


Dad will then come home Monday night (because of course insurance does not cover keeping him until the surgery) and will return to the hospital the next morning at 5:30am for surgery at 8am Tuesday. Surgery is expected to take anywhere from 2-4 hours. After surgery recovery, Dad will move to the Neuro ICU for a day and then to the neurology floor for a few days before coming home. We will keep you posted that day re: additional updates and info.


In the meantime, Dad got a "crew-cut" this morning - here is a photo ...hmmmm really adds to his “cheek-appeal” - I can see the resemblance :)

    Hey Earl,
    You guys almost look like twins :)You can tell he "LUVS his Pawpaw"(Great smiles too!) You may not need any Brylcream right now(like Uncle Gene always loved to use on his hair)but soon you'll have your "LOVELY LOCKS" back and I'll have to get you some...=)
    Just know you & all are in our prayers and we are checking Aften's Blogg everyday even if there is no news...You never know when she will post another "Great" photo or quick note for us all to see...we are so-o-o Grateful...=) Thanks again Aften...=)

    Hi Earl, good luck with surgery tomorrow!!! We are thinking about you and the family every day and saying lots of prayers!!! You are tough and we know you will get through all of this. Aften, thanks for all the updates & pictures - what a great idea! You know how Jingles is not up to date with computer technology so I'm sharing the details with him on a daily basis. :)

    Earl: Since we heard your news, we've had all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Hits home with it happens to be a good friend like you.
    We will especially have you and your doctors in our prayers tonight along with tomorrow morning as everyone prepares for your surgery.
