It's been a while since I've posted, mainly because there has miraculously not been much to report. Dad has been living life, taking things one day at a time - although the sciatica is still an issue, he's been gaining a little strength and his hair has really started to grow again - foods that haven't tasted good since per-radiation are even tasting a little better now! We even had a kicking cancer bash committee party this weekend - AARP and Medicare Birthdays..."kabulilee" (or so they call it)and reminiscing about cruise stories and the "good 'ol days" - who knew, 50+ year olds really do know how to party! :)
We do have two events coming up that I wanted to share and also ask for some prayers and positive thoughts. Dad is going to get an epidural for his sciatica pain this Friday. He's not really supposed to have one with his treatments and medications but nothing has seemed to work so the doctors are giving it a try. Pray all goes well and no complications. It could take up to three epidurals to eliminate the pain or they could not work at all but we're hopeful. Secondly, we have the dreaded three month mark approaching - Dad will have his three month MRI scan on the 22nd - we'll know results immediately but as you all know scan days are stressful and scary, so prayers that all looks good and that we are able to continue to enjoy this "normal" life.
Father's day is approaching this Sunday - we've always been a close family and enjoy spending time and the holidays together, but with all that has happened in the past year this is a big one! Looking forward to a nice weekend and wishing all of you fathers, a happy fathers day!
I'll try to update again this weekend, post epidural - and I'll try to catch a pic of Dads hair growing back!
Prayers for good scans! We're heading down tomorrow and know how you're feeling. We call it "scanxiety.". So glad he is feeling good.
