Roller Coaster Week

It has been a roller coaster kind of week - I am wayyy behind with posting, but it has been absolutely crazy in every way this week - crazy for me with work, life and babe and crazy for Dad too.

Ever since he came home from the hospital last week, he's been running a low fever, has had a loss of appetite and has been becoming weaker and weaker each day. He finally went into Breese hospital yesterday because he felt so bad - they ran a series of tests, gave him fluid and a dose of antibiotics - his chest x-ray looked good, but white blood count was low and liver enzymes were elevated. They think he likely picked up a virus and due to not being able to eat well and his immunity being down, he was just to weak to fight it off. They allowed him to go home last night, but called him back in this morning for a few more tests and some monitoring.

So up and down and up and down, I wasn't sure what to expect when I left work tonight and called Mom on the way over to visit - to my pleasant surprise though, Dad was all of the sudden feeling MUCH better, they fed him dinner in the hospital and he was actually able to EAT for the first time in a few weeks - reallllly EAT!? Huge progress - they allowed him to go home after dinner - when we visited tonight, he was back to his old self and looked absolutely great! Better than he has in weeks - since before radiation started in my opinion. Much more energy, color in his face - just great.

The ups and downs and ups and downs really weigh on you, and he's not quite out of the clear yet re: this "virus" but I SO hope we stay on this "up" and head into a positive direction for a while - I know he could really use it (especially with his birthday quickly approaching this week, on the 8th!!! :)) Please continue to keep him in your prayers and thanks again for everything - hope you all know how much you mean to us. Thanks again!

  2. Wow, what a week. I'm glad to hear he's feeling better. Hopefully he'll get some better "real food" than Barnes food...yuck:). Keep taking it one day at a time.
